-
Your technician will insert a very thin probe (needle) into the hair follicle. A low-level current is then applied; this current will destroy the surrounding blood supply and hair growth cells. The hair is then removed with a tweezer.
-
New clients will have a complimentary 15-minute treatment.
If you’d like to proceed with additional sessions, our rates are as follows:
15 min. or under - $40
30 minutes - $60
45 minutes - $95
1 hour - $120
For sessions > 1 hour - pls. contact us. Depending on your comfort/pain tolerance and location, I am happy to do longer sessions to help get you cleared.
-
New clients - we will do a detailed consultation, review any questions you may have, and then proceed with a 15 minute (free) treatment on 1 or 2 test areas.
In advance of your appointment - You will be sent a list of instructions for before and after treatment.
It is extremely important to follow these for optimal results.
Reminder: We can only treat the hairs we can see during your appointment, so if you wax, pluck, or tweeze you should stop right away. If you are desperate - You may trim or shave all the hair in the area until ~ 3 days before your appointment. We will need enough growth to get a tweezer on and to evaluate your hairs above the skin.
-
Like other beauty treatments (lasers, Botox, fillers) there is some discomfort associated with this process.
You'll probably feel a momentary heat - a “spicy pinch” or “sting” sensation while each hair follicle is zapped. Keep in mind that some areas of the body are much more sensitive than others.
Discomfort is minimal for most people, but individual tolerances vary greatly.
-
Your technician will design a custom treatment plan with a specific modality for optimal results.
Appointment time: Your appointment time will be based on the area being treated, including the size of the area, the number of hair follicles, hair density, and your skin’s health and condition. A small area might take 15 minutes, whereas a larger area might take an hour or longer.
Frequency of Appointments: Clients may need to be seen weekly or bi-weekly for the first couple of months. Over time, your appointment time and frequency will decrease, until treatment is no longer needed. Clients who follow the recommended treatment plan can begin to see results over the first 3-6 months. Generally, client’s will complete treatment within 18-24 months.
Factors in the treatment plan: Factors such as hair growth cycles, the quantity and structure of hair presented, previous use of temporary hair removal methods, heredity influences, hormone function and certain medications determine the treatment needed for each individual.
Staying on the treatment schedule that was created specifically for you and your hair is important. Missing appointments or improper spacing of appointments can cause the technician to miss treating active follicles and take much longer to wait for them to re-appear.
-
During your consult, your technician will develop a custom treatment plan to determine what treatment method (known as “modality”) is best.
Electrolysis devices can destroy the hair growth cells with chemical energy, heat energy, or both. All are effective.
There are three modalities in current use:
Galvanic electrolysis is a chemical process. The current produces a chemical reaction (creating “lye”) within the hair follicle; which eliminates the hair growth cells.
Thermolysis (also called short-wave) produces heat in the moisture from th tissue surrounding the probe. This modality heats and destroys the hair growth cells in the follicle.
Blend - this method combines galvanic current with thermolysis.
-
Electrolysis is the only FDA-approved, permanent hair removal method.
It works on all hair colors, including blonde, grey, white, and red, as well as on all skin types, including darker tones.
Electrolysis permanently destroys the hairs treated. The hairs that die, remain dead.
-
Breaking down the hair growth cells on deep, coarse hairs may require more than one treatment.
Additionally, for electrolysis to work, your hair needs to be in its growing phase (vs. the resting and shedding phases).
Some clients also experience “pili multigemini” where the follicles contain multiple hairs growing from a single follicle or they have follicles that grow right beside each other.
As your treatment progresses, you will notice the hair become thinner until it's permanently gone.
-
Yes, electrolysis is a safe and effective method of permanent hair removal.
To ensure your safety and comfort, our Electrologist will conduct a thorough consultation to review your health history, current medications, and any specific concerns you may have. This allows us to tailor the treatment to your individual needs and ensure the best possible outcome.

-
Please stop all methods of hair removal other than shaving on the area to be treated.
Plucking, waxing, and other temporary methods of hair removal can cause the hair to grow deeper and more robust over time to combat this surface irritation. These actions can also distort the follicles (making it harder for the probe to get to the root), increase risk of side effects and cause increased blood flow - simulating more hair growth.
-
Yes! We are able to permanently remove the hairs that are already dark and growing coarser, and this can go a long way towards making those persons more comfortable in their appearance and presentation.
-
We remind all clients that this is not a preventative treatment.
Over time, other hair follicles may activate growing new or darker hairs. This can mean you will need touch up treatments. Common events that may stimulate smaller hair follicles to turn into larger/darker hairs include glandule or hormonal changes (pregnancy, menopause, aging), activities that stimulate blood flow (repetitive waxing/plucking/tweezing), external factors (high stress).
